Celebrating Our Activity Team: The Heart of Oak Pointe!
January 22, 2025
At Oak Pointe, activities aren’t just events on a calendar—they are the moments that bring our residents joy, connection, and a sense of belonging. This National Activity Professionals Week, we are thrilled to introduce you to our incredible activities team, whose dedication and creativity make our community thrive.
Lauren has been leading our activities team for two years and brings passion and energy to everything she does. When she’s not planning engaging events or leading activities, she’s often driving the bus and taking residents on exciting outings. Lauren’s favorite activities include fishing trips, summer cookouts, Family Feud, and taking residents to her church or to feed exotic animals at The Farm. For Lauren, the outings are especially meaningful—helping residents revisit cherished memories, connect with the community, and create new experiences.
Her favorite memory from this year was taking a group of residents to an Akron Rubber Ducks baseball game, where she shared her love of baseball with them.
“For many of our residents, it was their first game, and seeing their smiles and hearing their cheers was unforgettable.” Lauren loves her role because it allows her to connect one-on-one with residents, listen to their stories, and make a tangible difference in their lives. Her coworkers describe her as positive and organized, and her residents agree, calling her
“kind, generous, and always going the extra mile.”
Logan has been a part of the Oak Pointe family for 2.5 years and is known for his warm personality and dedication. In addition to his work in the activities department, Logan also serves as an STNA and helps drive residents to outings. His favorite activities include the annual Prom, Jeopardy, and summer BBQs, which he says,
"Most people grew up going to/having a cookout or a BBQ of some kind. Plus, we get to have good food and get some fresh air. I really enjoy watching that.”
Logan finds the Prom especially meaningful, saying
, “I love seeing everyone feeling beautiful and young again. Not everyone had the chance to experience a prom and it’s cool to think that at 80 years old, we can provide someone a first time experience like that!" His coworkers praise him as a “smiling face” and a caring team member, while residents admire his humor, hard work, and unwavering commitment to their happiness.
Danielle has been with Oak Pointe for almost a year, bringing over 20 years of experience as an STNA to her role. Her favorite activities include the Carnival, Weekend Art Classes, and the annual Prom. Danielle loves fostering creativity, saying,
“It’s amazing to see the residents’ imaginations shine when you hand them a piece of paper and say, ‘Let’s have some fun.’”
She chose the activities department because of the quality time it allows her to spend with residents. Danielle’s coworkers describe her as a “shining light” with a smile and a positive spirit that uplifts everyone around her. Residents agree, calling her flexible, fun, and someone who ensures no one misses out on the fun.
At Oak Pointe, activities are more than entertainment—they’re a vital part of creating a home where residents can thrive emotionally, socially, and mentally. From trips to favorite restaurants and scenic drives to creative projects and game nights, these moments provide joy, purpose, and connection.
We are so grateful for Lauren, Logan, Danielle, and the entire activities team, whose dedication, creativity, and compassion make all the difference in the lives of our residents. Thank you for all you do to make Oak Pointe a place where memories are made and smiles are shared!
