Celebrating Nursing Home Week 2022

Nursing Home Week is always a such a special time in nursing facilities as we take a step back and celebrate all the wonderful things that happen in our buildings every day. In light of the challenging times healthcare has faced in the last couple of years, any chance to celebrate is even sweeter than before. Oak Pointe was no exception to this.
Our incredible Activities Department went above and beyond to make Nursing Home Week special for our residents and staff alike. Each day between May 9th – 13th was packed with things to do that got the whole facility involved. A raffle was held each day for a lucky winner to take home a gift basket full of goodies. In addition, everyone was asked to pick five numbers between 1-50. Each day, two random numbers were drawn. The lucky winners who had matching lottery numbers won a prize! The big prize for picking five winning numbers was a PTO day!
Our activities schedule for the week was packed full. We kicked off on Monday with delicious root beer floats for everyone. On Tuesday, a food truck came to the facility for lunch, and our residents’ favorite entertainer, Jon King, was here to perform. Next, we had Wine Down Wednesday with wine & cheese! Thursday was celebrated with an ice cream bar and music from a gospel group. To wrap up the week, we pulled out all the stops with a cookout and carnival. Our courtyard was filled with smiling faces of staff and residents enjoying the beautiful weather and eating all the carnival classics. By the end of the afternoon, everyone had blue cotton candy tongues!

As an added bonus to a fun week, each resident and staff member was gifted candy bags with sweet messages. We reminded our residents things like, “You bring us so much joy!” with Almond Joys and told our team, “You play an essential role in our family!” with Tootsie Rolls!
Nursing Home Week 2022 was so special for us. Celebrating our wonderful residents and staff is our favorite thing to do!
